The  Global Problem

Look around you, and you'll see that we live in a world of excess. We see people overfed, underactive, and ultimately unhappy. We have no time, yet find enough to spend upwards of four hours a day on our phones. We look at people portraying a facade, showing you the best and none of the worst or even remotely average examples of their existence online. There is nothing wrong with goals and ambitions, but without action, they remain dreams. You are where you are, and the best you can do is make strides in the right direction.

What matters to you? What really matters in life? Do you want to portray a happy life when, deep down, you are longing for a change? Are you someone who posts the good things online to give an image to people you know? Are you someone who makes choices and decisions based on your specific goals or are your decisions made for you? Do you have a plan or are you just exisiting and hoping everything will get better?

You can and deserve to be the best version of yourself. You owe that to your loved ones. You owe that to yourself. You are the product of your habits and decisions. You always have a choice and you always have time. If you keep constantly doing the same things you have been doing, you will get the same result.

The Local Problem

What do you care about? What should you be investing in?

Everyone deserves to be their best version, and it all starts with prioritising yourself.

You should spend your money on experiences and repurchasing your time. Time is a finite resource; we all have an expiry date. The better you look after yourself, the more time you will have and the more you will enjoy it. Your loved ones deserve the best version of you, and you deserve to be the best version of yourself.

You can't put a price on your physical and mental health. You are born, you get better for 16-25 years, then you get worse. Each year, you are fighting a battle against time.

It's an achievement to stay the same. It's near impossible to get better. If you let life dictate what changes are being made then you will always default for the easy option. That option is probably not edging you closer to your goal.

I want you to consider real world comparisons specific to your life. Are you better than you were when you were 16 years old? Are you better than you were 5 years ago? Most people have no idea what it is like to feel good. They think back on when they were younger and their minds cherry pick the best times, a bit like what you are shown online. All we want is to feel great and that means functioning well and being able to do everything we have always been able to do, but maybe better than ever before.

How many people do you see on a daily basis who stay the same? How many do you see who seem to get worse every year, slowly remissing while the world passes by?

How often have you gone to a gym and seen the same people being super consistent but not changing at all? Perhaps even getting worse? What about the people you see in your work environment, degrading away year on year. What is the point in working 40-60 years of your life for money, chasing more and more, and then being left with nothing less than a frail, weak frame to be vehicle for the rest of your lives? What is the point in slaving away in the gym and not getting significantly better year on year, or even worse off? How many people can you think of that make poor decisions over and over again, yet complain when things are not perfect?

What is the Solution?

We have all heard the phrase "eat less, move more," but is it that simple?

You are: the sum of your habits and your decisions.

Change is hard, especially permanent change. But it is possible if you are willing to figure out what really works for you.

We cannot change for the short term and then revert back. How many people do you know that have done ‘4,6 or 8-week plans’ and then 6 months later they look the same as they did before? How many supplements do you see (or have potentially purchased and consumed) promising results? What is the point in investing money, time and effort, only to end up back where you started? Except after, you are actually worse off. Back where you started with less time ahead of you.

We learn through a number of processes. We can either be told things and believe them. We learn, experiment and then modify to ensure we are getting better. You cannot blame anyone for believing something that makes some logical sense, and you cannot blame people for not believing information without all the facts. We are being bombarded with information from every direction. Every company is trying to sell you something and needs to be ‘different’ so their product stands out and ultimately they get the sale. The issue is that they may be selling you a solution to a symptom, not addressing the root cause which means you get a perceived positive result which fades to insignificance over time.

So, what do we need to do to create permanent change? What are your current habits and what can we tailor to the smallest degree to get you moving in the right direction? Anything we change needs to be specific, measurable and sustainable.

This is a process of understanding yourself. It is specific to you, including your tastes, your lifestyle, your goals, and your ambition. We can pivot, change, modify and specialise but we do not move backwards. That does not mean you will not fail. You will. And you will continue to forever. That’s the game we play and there is no shame in it. However, starting yourself on a journey and quitting before you are exactly where you want to be means you will never get there, and ultimately you have never reached the potential you always had.

You may have had coaches before, but this is different. This is about honesty, accountability, and understanding yourself deep down. Thinking back to earlier, if your current trajectory from the last 20, 10, or even 5 years is down, then we need to make changes somewhere. The real question is what we need to change and how we ensure that we keep the results we want, once we get them.
